Malaya in Malaysia

Présentation

Western or Peninsular Malaysia is located south of Thailand. It is connected to Singapore by a bridge in the South-west of the region. Malaya is a former Dutch colony, which can still be seen in its streets and the atmosphere of its towns. It is more urban than Sarawak and Sabah, especially since it is home to Kuala Lumpur, the bustling, futuristic city. Malaya also boasts cultural and historical attractions, as well as interesting day-trips to Kota Bharu and the Perhentian Islands, among others.

Climat

The winter monsoon months – from November to the end of February – should be avoided at all costs, especially in Eastern Malaya. It rains constantly, and business is slower in the entire peninsula. However, June, July and August are a perfect time to visit this part of the country, before the start of the summer monsoon.

A faire / A voir

Peninsular Malaysia is the ideal place for beach and diving aficionados. The small islands along the coast are filled with lush natural settings and are absolutely stunning. You can relax in comfortable settings there. In Kuala Lumpur, visit the twin Petronas Towers, one of the land-marks of the country, but make sure you also take the time to roam around the narrow streets and the markets. Finally, the historical colonial town of Malaca is a must-see for history buffs.
