Kuantan is the capital of Pahang State, in Peninsular Malaysia. The city is located near the mouth of the Kuantan River, by the China Sea. The city is halfway between Singapore and Kota Bharu. It has an estimated population of 568,000. The population is composed of 57% Malay or Indian and 32% Chinese.
