The Malaysian city of Kuala Terengganu is the capital of Terengganu State. It is located on the eastern coast of the Malay peninsula, 288 km (179 miles) as the crow flies – 332 km (206 miles) by road – north-east of Kuala Lumpur. According to the census of 2000, it had a population of 255,109.
